Six years and 150+ races

To quote David Hobbs, "Kablammo!"

In the lead with about a fifth of the race to go, Michael's Ferrari did something that it hadn't done since the 2000 season.

The engine let go in a massive puff of smoke, thus effectively crushing the championship hopes for Schumacher. Now, in order to win the drivers cup, he will have to win in Brazil with Alonzo finishing out of the points. They would be tied in points (126 to 126) but Michael would take the championship by virtue of races won (8 to 7). However, the sportsman that he is, he has virtually conceded the championship to Alonzo. Quote, "As for the drivers' (title) it is lost. I don’t want to head off for a race, hoping that my rival has to retire. That is not the way in which I want to win the title."

The 2007 season will see the beginning of the post Michael era in F1. Kimi Räikkönen will take his rid at Ferrari with Felipe Massa retaining the #2 drivers slot. It will be nice to see what the "Flying Finn" can do in a Ferrari. Still, F1 without Michael...
