Deployed Troops Battle for Custody

Deployed Troops Battle for Custody Associated Press May 07, 2007 - "She had raised her daughter for six years following the divorce, handled the shuttling to soccer practice and cheerleading, made sure schoolwork was done. Hardly a day went by when the two weren't together. Then Lt. Eva Crouch was mobilized with the Kentucky National Guard, and Sara went to stay with Dad.

A year and a half later, her assignment up, Crouch pulled into her driveway with one thing in mind - bringing home the little girl who shared her smile and blue eyes. She dialed her ex and said she'd be there the next day to pick Sara up, but his response sent her reeling.

'Not without a court order you won't.'

The best interests of the child. Why is it that this phrase is used just as much for the plans and agendas of the parent(s) or the court as it is for the child. I'm not taking sides in this specific accounting of the problem as I do not know any of the specifics.

Why can't the people most able to help the children; parents, shrinks, Social Services, the Courts find some way of attaining a little objectivity WRT making the child's needs first. As a divorced father of one elemetary aged son having him involved with a custody dispute is worse than having them bounce around for a year or two. If you are divorced with kids you should always, always, always try to work things out before it gets to the point of bringing in the courts.

Burried in life

I'd been a while since I've posted anything. So much has happened I can't even remember it all straight. The "I don't want to be here" feelings are gone, that's for sure. Something happened with my son that is, well, it's very serious. I'm still trying to handle it. Also, I moved the server from 2 hours away to the house. Comcast has updated their business service so it's now possible. With the box physically here it makes things much more convenient, even though my buddy was carrying me for free for years now. Having it here will cost an extra $53.something but it turns out that if we go with their VoIP phone service will cost $60.something less than we're paying now so it'll end up a net gain. Far out.

I'll try and get back into the flow soon.
