The Outlook for Vista Gets Even Worse

The Outlook for Vista Gets Even Worse | November 28, 2008 Posted by: Glyn Moody - "As someone who has been following Microsoft for over 25 years, I remain staggered by the completeness of the Vista fiasco. Microsoft's constant backtracking on the phasing out of Windows XP is perhaps the most evident proof of the fact that people do not want to be forced to “upgrade” to something that has been memorably described as DRM masquerading as an operating system."

It's no secret that I am not a fan of Microsoft products. Especially the frelling OS. Since I've started University I've been forced to work with this crappy platform and it's been a major PITA. How does anyone get anything accomplished with this incredible mess they call an operating system and their unusable applications? Ok, call me a Microsoft h8r if you like. It doesn't change the fact that the EOL date for XP keeps being pushed back because businesses are staying away from Vista in droves. The number of home users wiping it and installing XP is staggering when compared to previous Windows upgrades. If it weren't for the fact that Microsoft has a stranglehold on the hardware market such that it's nearly impossible to buy a new computer without Windows on it there probably wouldn't even be any Vista users. All that can be hoped for is that one day the public will wake up and see what kind of fraud Gates and company have perpetrated on them. Maybe then Microsoft will be forced to build products that actually work and don't extort massive amounts of money from their customers.

I'm not holding my breath, though.
